Pelphrey won two Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for the role of Jonathan Randall on the now defunct CBS daytime drama Guiding Light.

Francis joined ABC’s now-sole sudser in 1977 as Laura Vining. Francis would wind up landing in pop culture history when she was later paired with the late Anthony Geary (ex-Luke). They became the legendary supercouple Luke and Laura, who got married in 1981 with a record 30 million viewers watching the two say “I do.”

In a statement, President and CEO NATAS Adam Sharp said about the honor the Emmy Award-winning Francis will receive:

We are thrilled to celebrate Genie Francis’s remarkable career. From Port Charles and beyond, she has left an indelible mark on the landscape of daytime television, and she continues to tackle bold topics as a courageous storyteller to this day.

Francis would go on to star in and originate other roles such as Diana Colville on Days of Our Lives from 1987 until 1989, Sierra Connor on All My Children from 1990-1992, and Genevieve Atkinson on The Young and the Restless from 2011-2012. But she made her return home to GH permanently in 2015, where Laura is now remarried and has become Port Charles’ Mayor Collins.

Francis, who will celebrate her 50th anniversary of starring on GH in Feb. 2027, said in a released statement about the award:

I want to offer my deepest gratitude to the leadership of NATAS for honoring me with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This February marks 50 years since I first portrayed Laura on General Hospital. Stepping onto that set at just 14, I could never have imagined the extraordinary journey that lay ahead. I am deeply grateful to have been welcomed onto your television screens and into your homes for five decades; for the love, support, and loyalty I’ve been given; and for the privilege of being a small part of your lives Thank you to NATAS, my colleagues, the daytime community and, most of all, the viewers. My career in daytime television has truly been the adventure of a lifetime, and I am deeply honored by this recognition.

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmys will take place Oct. 30.

The Young and the Restless received 18 nominations and its counterpart, new kid on the block Beyond the Gates, was right behind with 15 nods. ABC’s sole soap, General Hospital, received 13. The ceremony will be held on Oct. 30, and will air on TheEmmys.tv. No host has been announced. President and CEO of NATAS Adam Sharp said about the event in a released statement:

 The Buzz was the first to report that the nominations will be announced, with the ceremony to take place on Oct. 30. Daytime’s biggest party of the year will celebrate and recognize those in the genre across acting, writing, and directing, as well as talk and game shows and lifestyle programming.

The two, along with their teams, took matters into their own hands and self-submitted their performances. Allen played Roxy, a woman with terminal cancer who lands in the ER after suffering from excruciating pain and wants to end her life. Kober played Duke, a laid-back biker friend of Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) who winds up in the ER himself after his pal becomes worried when he has a throat ailment that turns into a tumor growth on his chest.

Both actors paid the fees and self-submitted their nominations, spearheading and undertaking their own campaigns for Emmy consideration via social media, interviews, and podcasts. The rest is history, with their nods helping the series score 25 nominations. In a interview with the trade publication after getting the news about her nomination, Allen stated:

A week ago I couldn’t get a good agent if my life depended on it, and in the last hour I think that’s already starting to change. These nominations and accolades from the industry have credit. It’s not always easy for somebody to stand behind an artist based purely on their own belief in them.<br>

This isn’t the first time Allen decided to take a chance and submit herself for a nomination. In 2011, she did the same thing when starring as Marissa on AMC and ended up winning the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock Sept. 14 at 8 PM EST.

Allen appeared in six episodes, then she went on to do two more. She was unsure if her last episode, the eighth, would actually include the scenes she shot; if she filmed eight episodes, then she could potentially be eligible to compete in the Best Supporting Drama Actress category instead of Best Guest Drama Actress. As it turns out, her character, the terminally-ill Roxie, died off-camera; to be up for a guest category, an actor has to appear in fewer than half the episodes a show’s eligible to submit for a given season. The Pitt‘s second season had 15 episodes.

Allen also submitted herself when she won her Daytime Emmy. She recalled:

During the submission process, I actually was no longer on the show, and it was a real story of redemption. I had been on the show for about a year and a half, and then the fans didn’t take to the character, so, as they do in soaps, I left the room one day as Marissa and another actress entered the room the next episode as Marissa. It was kind of the epitome of the highs and lows of this career. But then I did submit myself, and a year after finishing on the show, I ended up winning.

Allen is a firm believer in putting herself forward when she feels she deserves to be in contention. She said

You have to fight for yourself. You have to believe in your work, and you can’t expect other people to do that for you. The industry is built on hype, and if nobody is creating that hype for you, you have to find a way to do it yourself. I’ve always focused the majority, if not all, of my efforts on evolving my craft as an actor. That’s the most important thing, and it’s taken me a lot of years to realize that, that alone will not necessarily advance your career.

Allen added that she didn’t take the fact she wasn’t submitted for contention personally.

For the 2025 Daytime Emmys, the ceremony’s 52nd rendition, Beyond the Gates wasn’t eligible for contention. Fans weren’t thrilled. But anticipation is high for the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmys this year, since BTG is eligible, and its stellar team may well get recognized with nominations and awards. Beyond the Gates Executive Producers Michele Val Jean (also the creator and head writer) and Julie Hanan Carruthers sat down with Gold Derby to share their Emmy hopes.

The 2026 Daytime Emmys will take place on Oct. 30.

The 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards will see some changes from its 2025 counterpart. The Hollywood Reporter has announced the that National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has implemented some rule changes for this year’s ceremony that will align it more closely with the way the Television Academy conducts the Primetime Emmys.

Here’s a rundown of the changes happening for this year year’s Daytime Emmys, set to take place on Oct. 30. Daytime dramas and non-fiction programs will compete alongside one another in all categories, barring writing and directing. If daytime dramas and non-fiction programs each get at least 10 submissions, then the categories will be divided once again. 

Rules for Guest Performer in a Daytime Drama are being updated, too. To be considered for this category, actors must be seen in a maximum of 19% of episodes that either aired or were streamed for the first time during the calendar year of 2025. If that doesn’t apply to an actor, then they must submit solely in Leading, Supporting, or Emerging Talent categories. Before this, actors could submit if they were in “in a limited role with a definitive beginning and end to the story arc.”

Previously, a program’s complete team could be given award based on one submission, but there will now be “an episode-based submission for craft categories.” What does that mean? It signifies that a program can enter multiple submissions for different episodes and could even theoretically get multiple nods in the same category.

NATAS is nixing the Daytime Emmys’ science and nature category. Shows that would have been entered into that race, including any potential off-screen or voiceover narrators, can be entered in either the News & Doc or Primetime categories; if a program aimed at kids under 15, then it would be entered into the Children’s & Family Emmys. Shows produced by a given platform’s documentary arm aren’t eligible for Daytime Emmys anymore (instead going in News & Doc or Primetime).

To be automatically approved as Daytime Emmy judges, judges must be members of NATAS or the Television Academy, or both. If there aren’t enough eligible judges, NATAs will take into account previous Emmy winners and nominees, and:

those who otherwise meet the published membership criteria for their respective Peer Group but have elected not to join at this time.

Nomination numbers will be determined on how many submissions NATAS gets. The ratio of default nominations to submissions at the Daytime Emmys will read like this:

10 – 29 submissions: 5 nominations

30 – 59 submissions: 6 nominations

60 – 89 submissions: 7 nominations

90 – 119 submissions: 8 nominations

120 -149 submissions: 9 nominations

150 or more submissions: 10 nominations

How does that stack up, compared to the Primetime Emmys? Here’s the math:

20 – 80 submissions = 5 nominations

81 – 160 submissions = 6 nominations

161 – 240 submissions = 7 nominations

240 submissions = 8 nominations

Now, at the Daytime Emmys, if a category gets three or fewer submissions, it won’t have any nominations. 

Categories classified previously as single-cam or multi-cam are either studio or non-studio now. Plus, the year’s new logo, designed in conjunction with Spillt, above; it looks echoes the format of other NATAS awards show logos.

The Young and the Restless added another trophy to its hardware collection this weekend. On Sunday, March 8, the CBS soap won the Writers Guild of America award for best daytime drama, per The Wrap.

Y&R also brought home the win in that category last year. The executive producer and head writer, Josh Griffith, isn’t ineligible for contention for the award because of his financial core (fi-core) status. 

Also up for contention were Beyond the Gates and General Hospital. In 2025, The Bold and the Beautiful didn’t submit itself for consideration, but there’s no word if the soap repeated that in 2026.

The Writers Guild Awards (WGA) nominations were revealed on Tuesday and three of the five soaps obtained nominations for the upcoming ceremony. Soap newcomer Beyond the Gates received a nod, along with General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. Last year, The Bold and the Beautiful didn’t put itself up for a nomination, something it’s done for the past two years. No word if the same happened this year. 

Winners will be announced at ceremonies being held simultaneously in both Los Angeles and New York on March 8. Y&R‘s showrunner Josh Griffith is not eligible for a nomination due to his Fi-Core status.

Congratulations is in order for Beyond the Gates. The freshman sudser received two nominations for the 57th NAACP Image Awards. Jonathan Jackson recently took home his sixth Daytime Emmy for his work as Lucky Spencer on ABC’s General Hospital. We caught up with the star on the red carpet at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys following his win in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category.

The actor first appeared on GH in 1993, playing the son of legendary supercouple Luke and Laura Spencer (Tony Geary and Genie Francis). Jackson was still a kid when he took home Emmy gold for the first time, which he said makes this win a bit different. Said Jackson:

Jackson revealed he submitted scenes that comprised key moments from his recent return to Port Charles for his Daytime Emmy reel, including Lucky seeing an apparition of Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) in his jail cell and the popular character’s poignant reunions with Laura and his son Aidan (Colin Cassidy).  

In real-life, Jackson and wife Lisa Vultaggio (ex-Hannah, GH) have made a home for themselves and their three kids away from Hollywood, which he explained is why his time on the show was so brief. Would he ever return?

The Bold and The Beautiful scene stealer Lisa Yamada was understandably emotional following her recent Daytime Emmy win for Outstanding Emerging Talent. The actress, who plays psychotic vixen Luna Nozawa, spoke with Daytime Confidential on the red carpet at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys. Yamada shared what it meant for her to take home the prestigious award in front of her parents:

General Hospital actress Nancy Lee Grahn combined glamor and social justice at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys. From the statement-making purses worn by the actress and her family members on the red carpet, to her rousing acceptance speech, Grahn chose to use her platform to address the country’s current political climate. When asked how she was feeling before the show, Grahn replied:

"In this moment, I feel very concerned as a citizen."

She then revealed her purse with the phrase, “Democracy Dies In Silence” on it. Grahn’s daughter wore a bag with the phrase, “No Kings”. Her sister’s purse had the message “Voices Not Silence,” while the soap star’s great niece wore a bag with a message about protecting children from gun violence. 

Grahn turned to her daughter to explain their reasoning for such powerful fashion statements. Said Kate Grahn:

Grahn’s mother/daughter bond was still fresh on her mind after winning the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama Series. She said to Kate:

"Really, I want to win because I want to say how much I love you."

Daytime Confidential chatted with GH‘s Co-Head Writers Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte last weekend in Pasadena following their win for Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team. The duo revealed it was Kristina’s fall and the aftermath that scored them the golden lady.

Korte said of the episodes:

"Amazingly produced, amazingly shot and amazingly acted. We are so fortunate because our words, our ideas get realized in such an incredible way."

When asked about what it’s like inside the GH writers’ room, Van Etten shared the vibe is “crackling” and “fun” before noting:

"I always make sure we get down to business."

Paul Telfer took home his very first Daytime Emmy this past weekend in Pasadena at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. He won in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category for his work as thug-turned-captain of industry Xander Kiriakis on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives.

Daytime Confidential caught up with the Scottish actor on what proved to be an emotional night. During our chat, Telfer revealed how the loss of his real-life mother 20 years ago informed his performance as Xander dealt with the havoc his mum, Fiona Cook (Serena Scott Thomas), reeked in fictional Salem U.S.A. last season. 

He also shared how leading lady Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) helped make sure he turned in the best performance possible. Said Telfer:

While several of those aforementioned deceased suds citizens have made miraculous returns from the dead (Here’s looking at you, Sheila and Taylor!), others like Caroline Spencer Forrester (Joanna Johnson), Storm Logan (William deVry) and the unforgettable Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) have remained in Soap Heaven. It turns out one Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) was thisclose to joining their ranks.

Daytime Confidential caught up with Clifton on the red carpet for the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmys. The three-time Emmy winner revealed B&B‘s Executive Producer and Head Writer Brad Bell initially planned to kill Liam off!

It’s hard to imagine B&B without lovably fickle Liam ping-ponging back and forth between warring stepsisters Hope (Annika Noelle) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) every year or so but it was almost a reality, according to Clifton. Speaking of Liam’s roller coaster love life, Clifton also chatted about all roads leading back to Hope for the publishing exec.

ABC’s General Hospital took home the biggest award of the night at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. 

GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini accepted the award, thanking the Academy and Nathan Varni. 

The Outstanding Drama Series Daytime Emmy win capped a strong night for General Hospital in the major drama categories. The show took home Lead Actress (Nancy Lee Grahn), Supporting Actor (Jonathan Jackson), Directing and Writing Team awards.

General Hospital has dominated the Outstanding Drama category recently, earning the award four out of the past five years. 

Days of Our Lives‘ Paul Telfer (Xander) has netted the top honor, the Outstanding Lead Actor Daytime Emmy. 

Telfer has received two Daytime Emmy nominations. In 2020, he was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Telfer went up against his DAYS co-stars Wally Kurth (Justin) and Chandler Massey (ex-Will) the first time he got nominated for a Daytime Emmy, but all three lost out to The Young and the Restless‘ Bryton James (Devon).

In 2025, Telfer received his first nomination and first win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama series. Telfer becomes the third actor from DAYS to win the Outstanding Lead Actor category. The first was the late Macdonald Carey, who played the legendary Dr. Tom Horton, in 1974 and 1975. In 2018, James Reynolds (Abe) became the second DAYS actor to win, breaking a 43-year drought the show had in this category.

Telfer moved to America in the early 2000s to pursue acting and appeared on such shows as NCIS and the Hercules miniseries.

The Scottish actor first got his start in daytime dramas as a stand-in for former DAYS actor James Scott. He then went on to star on DAYS in January 2015, as Damon, Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) henchman for six episodes. A few months later, the newly-minted Daytime Emmy winner returned to the show in March 2015 as Alexandros “Xander” Cook, Victor’s nephew, and ultimately was revealed to be his son.

Telfer is married to veteran stage actress Carmen Cusack, best known for starring in the Broadway musicals Bright Star and Flying Over Sunset. 

Nancy Lee Grahn has won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Alexis Davis on General Hospital. 

Grahn has won two prior Daytime Emmys. In 2012, Grahn won Outstanding Supporting Actress for her GH role. Her first Daytime Emmy came in 1989 in the supporting actress category for the role of Julia Wainwright Capwell on Santa Barbara.

Overall, Grahn has earned eleven total Emmy nominations. Courtney Hope, who was also nominated in this category, won this award last year. 

The character of Alexis had a rough year in 2024, including dealing with the death of her daughter Sam (Kelly Monaco).

Days of Our Lives has won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Casting in a Drama Series! DAYS’ casting director, Marnie Saitta, accepted the award. Saitta joined DAYS in 2007 and has also worked as the Casting Director at The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. Saitta has fourteen previous nominations for her role as Casting Director with two previous Daytime Emmys wins (2017 and 2019).

Hot Bench has garnered its first award for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. 

The courtroom series, produced by Judith “Judge Judy” Sheindlin, has been nominated three times before this win.

It was up against Judge Judy’s Judy Justice, Star Jones’ Divorce Court, Justice for the People with Judge Milian and We the People With Judge Lauren Lake. 

Hot Bench is produced by CBS Media Ventures and premiered in September of 2014. In 2024 it was renewed for two more years.

The court room drama underwent a cast change in early 2025 when the longest-running member of the bench, Judge Michael Corriero, stepped down. He was replaced by Judge Daniel Mentzer, who joined existing Judges Yodit Tewolde and Rachel Juarez, for Season 12 this fall.

Hot Bench kicked off Season 12 with strong syndicated ratings the week of Sep. 8-14. It was the sixth-ranked show in syndication and the top-ranking court room show. According to Variety, it had its best premiere ratings in four years and improved over 2024 by 15 percent. 

Lisa Yamada has won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Emerging Talent for the role of Luna Nozawa on The Bold and the Beautiful. Yamada joined The Bold and the Beautiful in 2023. This was her first Daytime Emmy win and her first nomination. 

The category of Outstanding Emerging Talent made its debut at this year’s Daytime Emmys. To qualify for nomination, a performer must be in their first two years on their first daytime drama series.

Secrets and lies have surrounded Luna since she first joined B&B. She was revealed to be the niece of Dr. Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda). Her mother Poppy Nozawa (Romy Park) followed close behind. Luna has committed murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and most recently, the rape of Will Spencer (Crew Morrow).

The directing team at General Hospital has won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Directing Team at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, beating out Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless for the honor. 

The win for Outstanding Directing Team was one of seven total victories for the ABC sudser on the night. This is also the sixth consecutive year that the Port Charles-set soap has won the Daytime Emmy in this category.

Drew Barrymore has won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host for her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards! This is Barrymore’s first Daytime Emmy win overall and her first in this category.

To win this award, Barrymore had to defeat some stiff competition. In the category, she beat out colleagues Kelly Clarkson (The Kelly Clarkson Show), Jennifer Hudson (The Jennifer Hudson Show), Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb (Today with Hoda & Jenna), and spouses Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos (Live! with Kelly & Mark) to take home the award.

Both Barrymore and her self-titled chatfest have received Daytime Emmy nominations in the past. Barrymore has received two prior nominations for her role as host of The Drew Barrymore Show. These particular nominations came in 2021 and 2022, respectively. In both of those years, Clarkson took home the award in that category. 

This isn’t the Charlie’s Angels star’s first rodeo, however. In fact, she was first nominated at this awards show nearly 40 years ago! Before her talk show was ever launched, Barrymore, then a child actress, received a nod at the 1986 Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Performer in Children’s Programming; she was up for her work in The Adventures of Con Sawyer and Hucklemary Finn.

Currently on its sixth season, The Drew Barrymore Show launched in 2020. It brought home several other awards at this year’s Daytime Emmys, including honors for Outstanding Hairstyling and Makeup, as well as Outstanding Directing Team for a Multiple Camera Daytime Non-Fiction Program. 

General Hospital fan favorite Jonathan Jackson took home the gold for the sudser, winning the Outstanding Supporting Actor Daytime Emmy. 

This is Jonathan Jackson’s sixth win for portraying General Hospital‘s Lucky Spencer. He won Outstanding Younger Actor Daytime Emmy in 1995, 1998 and 1999. He followed up those wins by taking home the Outstanding Supporting Actor award in 2011 and 2012. 

The win is not a surprise to anyone who follows the Daytime Emmys. He is an Emmy voter favorite and always delivers fantastic scenes for them to evaluate. 

In his acceptance speech, Jackson included his TV dad Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) among the people on his list, even though he didn’t work with Geary during the most recent stint.

Jackson portrayed Lucky from 1993 to 1999 before taking nearly a decade-long break from the character. He returned in 2009 and stayed in the role through 2011 before leaving again. After leaving GH, he landed the role of Avery Barkley on ABC’s country music primetime soap Nashville. Jackson made a brief visit to Port Charles in 2015,

In June of 2024 it was announced that Jackson would be reprising the role of Lucky Spencer, then he appeared onscreen in August of 2024. A year-to-the-month later, in June of 2025, it was announced that he was again leaving GH. 

In October of 2024 Daytime Confidential asked readers to grade the first arc of Lucky’s return and viewer reaction was mixed. Even though the writing for Lucky’s return may have been underwhelming, Jackson still delivered must-see scenes opposite his TV mom Genie Francis (Laura Spencer Collins) and helped usher in the return of Lucky’s sister, with Alexa Havins Bruening newly in the role of Lulu Spencer. 

Susan Walters won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role as Diane Jenkins Abbott on The Young and the Restless!

This was Walters’ first nomination and first win. 

She got her start in soap operas on ABC’s Loving, which premiered in 1983, where she portrayed Lorna Forbes Conway until late 1986. 

After leaving Loving, Walters appeared in multiple Aaron Spelling productions, including Melrose Place. And, like many soap stars of that era, she appeared on the long-running Murder She Wrote.

She took over the role of Diane Jenkins on The Young and the Restless in 2001 and portrayed the character through 2004. 

After that stint in daytime she appeared on such primetime soaps as One Tree Hill, The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, Star-Crossed and an episode of How to Get Away with Murder. 

She returned to The Young and the Restless and Diane Jenkins in 2022 and quickly went toe-to-toe with Y&R heavyweights Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman), Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) and Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott). 

Diane returned to Genoa City to reunite with her son Kyle Abbott and her scenes opposite Michael Mealor and Peter Bergman gave her meaty material to submit for this year’s Daytime Emmy consideration. 

She is married to Linden Ashby, who also received a Daytime Emmy nomination this year for Outstanding Guest Actor. He lost out to General Hospital’s Alley Mills.  

General Hospital takes home the golden lady for Outstanding Writing Team for a Daytime Drama at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. GH has won a record 17 Daytime Emmys, making this show’s writers the winningest recipients for the award.

Who is part of the victorious GH writing team? The individuals credited are Head Writers Elizabeth Korte, Patrick Mulcahey, Dan O’Connor, and Chris Van Etten, writers Cathy LePard and Anne Schoettle, breakdown writers Emily Culliton and Suzanne Flynn, and script writers Charlotte Gibson, Kate Hall, Stacey Pulwer, and Scott Sickles.

GH‘s current head writers are Van Etten and Korte. Mulcahey exited GH as co-head writer in May 2024, to be replaced by former co-head writer Van Etten. In January 2024, it was announced that Mulcahey and Korte would take over head-writing duties from Van Etten and O’Connor.

Congratulations to Alley Mills for winning the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor. This marks Mills’ second award and win for this category. Mills first won the award in 2023 for playing crazy Heather Webber on General Hospital. 

Mills first joined the daytime genre in 2006 when she starred on The Bold and the Beautiful as Pamela “Pam” Douglas, the younger sister of Forrester matriarch Stephanie Douglas Forrester (Susan Flannery). Mills would pop back in and out of the show for a bit and saw her character make a dramatic shift when Pam was sent to the mental hospital and was never seen on canvas again. Mills would make appearances throughout the show over the years and bumped up to a contract player in 2008; then she was moved back to recurring status in 2019.

In 2022, Mills then joined the GH family to play Heather Webber, replacing legendary actress Robin Mattson. It was there that Mills finally got her first Daytime Emmy for the same category in 2023 and won. In 2024, she was also nominated but lost out to legendary actor Dick Van Dyke. The last of Heather that viewers saw was in 2024 when her son Steven Lars (Scott Reeves) came to town after she was released from D’Archam Asylum. Steven invited her to live with him in Arizona after Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) blackmailed him into taking Heather to live with him.

The Daytime Emmys takes place tomorrow, Oct. 16, and actor/singer Jesse McCartney is looking back on his own nods for the ceremony years ago. From 1998 to 2001, McCartney played a young J.R. Chandler on All My Children; he received nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2001 and 2002.

In People, the “Beautiful Soul” singer reflected that he had a regular time at school, despite starring on an ABC soap, in a New York City suburb. That is, until his principal shared news of his Emmy nomination with the whole school! 

McCartney told the magazine:

As a result of that, his classmates knew of his acting career; when he joined tween pop group Dream Street, girls at school ended up catching on even more. When he joined WB drama Summerland, then he felt like he was getting treated differently in school and relocated to California, then was tutored on set.

Daytime Emmy week is upon us! Daytime’s biggest night is only a few short days away, which means it’s time for you to predict who will win Outstanding Daytime Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys.

When the 2025 Daytime Emmy Nominations were announced in July, the daytime community was surprised by the omission of The Bold and the Beautiful from the Outstanding Drama category. Not because of a specific storyline B&B delivered last year, but because most years the four legacy soaps often feel like “automatic” Outstanding Drama nominees. 

Things are different this year. Three of the five current soaps received nominations: Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. Beyond the Gates was not eligible because it premiered in 2025 and the nomination year was for 2024. 

So now the question is: Which Show Will Win Outstanding Drama Series at the 2025 Daytime Emmys this Friday?

Daytime Emmy week is upon us! Daytime’s biggest night is only a few short days away, which means it’s time for you to predict who will win Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys.

This year NATAS did away with the age requirement categories like Outstanding Younger Actor or Actress and decided to create a new category that is based on the length of time an actor has appeared in on a daytime drama. 

Here is the Emerging Talent Daytime Emmy category criteria: 

“Eligible performers are on their first Daytime contract with no previous Daytime Emmy acting nominations. They must have been on their Daytime Drama for two years or less, and must be onscreen in a speaking role with at least one multi-episode story arc. There is no age restriction.”

Which brings us to the nominees. The nominees for this year’s freshest acting category are: AnnaLynne McCord and Ashley Puzemis of Days of Our Lives. Christian Weissmann and Lisa Yamada of The Bold and the Beautiful and Olivia d’Abo from The Bay. 

Beyond the Gates was not eligible for the 2025 Daytime Emmys, since it premiered in February. General Hospital and The Young and the Restless did not receive nominations in this category.

Ahead of this Friday’s Daytime Emmys, four of the ladies up for the Outstanding Lead Actress award are chatting about their nominations and more. The Young and the Restless‘ Eileen Davidson (Ashley), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), and Sharon Case (Sharon) sat down with TV Insider‘s Stephanie Sloane to dish all things Daytime Emmys. Also nominated for the award are General Hospital‘s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) and Laura Wright (Carly).

Davidson has won in the category twice: once for Days of Our Lives and once for Y&R. How did it feel to be nominated again? It was particularly rewarding, given the material she submitted. Davidson mused:

It was a very tricky storyline as well, extremely tricky, like the ultimate tricky, and so the fact that I got a nod for that was kind of big because it was different than any other time I’d been nominated.

Case said she was clear on what scenes she wanted to submit. She remembered:

I did, because I had the Heather’s [] death story, Heather’s murder, so I knew that I was going to choose from that. So at least that made it a little bit easier ’cause sometimes it takes hours going through your reels to find something you, you know, really like.

The ladies noted how the awards ceremony has changed over the years. Stafford, who won in this category last year, recalled:

The very first year I won for Supporting Actress, it was Eileen and , ex-John, Days of Our Lives] who announced it and we went into the elevator afterward, right? And then came out and all these people and ‘Miss Stafford,’ and you know here they take the Emmy, the pretend Emmy, from you and then they give you the real one and then you go back and a bunch of people are taking your picture and then you go back and you talk to people. Cut to last year. So I win. I go back and they’re like, ‘Here, give me that. Give me that…’

She added that it seemed like no one was around and like there had been a “mass exodus” of people.

The actresses recalled when they’d been particularly excited for another actor’s big win in the past. Egan remembered:

Billy Miller’s

[ex-Billy, Y&R] first win, that was really special. That was a really fun one. 

She recalled that Miller was throwing a fun party in Las Vegas and, after a few cocktails, Egan got too hot and asked someone to cut her BCBG dress off her. She said:

And a friend took a knife—not scissors, we didn’t have scissors—and made it into a short little number.

Robert Gossett took home the 2024 Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series trophy for his portrayal of Marshall Ashford on General Hospital. 

In July, when the supporting actor nominees were announced, General Hospital’s Gregory Harrison and The Young and the Restless’ Michael Graziadei led the Who Should Win poll with 35 and 20 percent of the vote, respectively. GH’s Tajh Bellow was a close third at 19 percent while Jonathan Jackson and Days of Our Lives’ Blake Berris pulled in the remaining votes. 

Beyond the Gates was not eligible for the 2025 Daytime Emmys, since it premiered in February. The Bold and the Beautiful did not receive nominations in this category.
